I started school the week of August 25th and WOW, have I had an adjustment. I haven’t journaled, painted, blogged, SparkPeopled, or read more than three pages at a time for pleasure.

However, I have got my kids settled into the new school year, kept my weight steady, done laundry, cooked a few meals, had a few dates, read and watched a LOT of political news, and really fallen in love with my Library Information Technology courses. LOVE them. I lucked into a program that is way more cool than I expected.

And, I did just receive info that my Bouree – Eight of Hearts will be on the European Papers poster. Yippy! Who cares if perhaps they didn’t have any other Eight of Hearts… 🙂

So, hello lonely blog. I need to get busy. I miss this outlet, and visiting those blogs I love.

Yeh, Bourree!

Routine is good…

But, Breaking Routine is FUN!!!

Break the Routine!!!

Can I detach myself from the political circus? I am the monkey and the monkey is me…

This was my second idea for “detach”; my first was sending my kids off on their first days of school. However, as I was getting started, I overheard my six-year-old son repeating lines from a political ad for a man I am not particularly fond of. It was an “attack” ad that is constantly played during the Olympics. Hearing the negative words from my sons mouth – with the same intonation as the voice-over – got me to this political circus. So, can I – SHOULD I – detach myself from the circus? See no “evil”? Speak no “evil”? Hear no “evil”? hmmm.

Post-Post Note:
I shouldn’t have linked from IL – I double posted. I think I’ve been getting a little carried away…

This is a ATC I am working on for the topic “Connection”. I had sketched it before this weeks Illustration Friday topic “Sail”. As mentioned, I was going to double-dip this one but decided on the human cannonball, but now I am throwing this out there. While sitting on the shores of Lake Minnetonka, I saw the sail on a boat respond to its connection with the wind – whoosh. It made me think of the girl that I paint, and where she wants to go.

Well, I have four pieces up on my bird wall. It’s much more pleasant than I am able to capture in digital. I love that I can look west out the window to see real birds at the feeders, and then look east to my bird wall.

I love these birds for different reasons. The Fritzner Alphonse painting of the woman with the doves is one we’ve had for a few years. I love her serenity. The Mincing Mockingbird provided the small blue bird entitled, “Will You Please Put Down That US Magazine And Listen To Me“; I love the title, the focus in the birds eyes, and of course, the color scheme – blue and green. The last two, framed together, are prints from watercolor by Geninne; they make me feel good every time I walk by them, and are a lovely welcome and farewell to guests. And they all look GREAT on my wall.

I may need to expand it to the “Things That Fly” wall – the kids have a couple of non-bird flying creatures that may need to be framed and hung. But, for now, click to enlarge…

When I saw this topic, I realized I had already started a “Sail” for an ATC trade I am doing. I almost double dipped, but then this guy popped up and I thought I’d get him out here before I run out of time. I’ll probably post the other later, but for now, and for Illustration Friday, Here he is – Sail!

Later: Looking at him again, he may have been born out the Olympic swimming events. Cheers!
